Hey Hunter how’s it going?
It is going good, thanks.
Tell everyone a little about yourself, and how you got started racing motocross.
My name is Hunter Poarch, I am 11 years old and I live in Forney, Texas. I got started in racing when I was 7, my dad got me a tricked out CRF50 for Christmas, I raced it a few months later and got 1st in my first race ever, I have been hooked since.
What bikes and classes do you ride?
85 9-11, 85 jr. supermini and 85 open
If you had to pick one thing so far in your career, what would you say has been you greatest accomplishment?
Qualifying for the LL Regional in my first year on 80’s at Lake Whitney.
If you could change one thing about your riding style, what would it be?
I want to learn to throw big whips but my dad gets mad at me every time I try, haha.
What kind of training program do you have?
I ride 3 times a week at a lot of different tracks and try to race locally at least once a month. I mainly train at Bowie xtreme, Underground MX, Buffalo Creek, Willow Branch, I-35, River Valley and Village Creek. I also ride my bmx bike and exercise at night.
Tell us how 2008 went for you.
2008 went ok, I did not move up to 80’s until June so I was mainly just getting comfortable on the bigger bikes. I did win a couple of local series’ and quite a few races though, so that was cool.
What are your goals for this season and beyond?
Right now I am training real hard to get ready for nationals next year. I want to run top 10 at the GNC and Spring Classic and qualify for Loretta’s in 2010.
Do you have any other hobbies or things you like to do?
Play baseball, ride my bike and scooters.
What’s your most embarrassing racing moment? We all have them!
Probably looping out on the gate at the old NTMX, but I still came back and won!
Who would you like to thank for getting you where you are today?
My mom and dad, I would not be doing this today if it wasn’t for my dad hauling me all over Texas, my family supports me 100%. I would also like to thank my sponsors: Elmer Racing, Dunlop, Pit Posse, JM Racing, Motoworld, MGX and Scott.
Thanks, and good luck with your racing!
Thank You Kevin!
